This year’s Cielo Vista Charter School Benefit will be held on the grounds of the historic Carl Gustav Lykken estate. Carl arrived in Palm Springs in 1913 and until now, this privately-owned home in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs has not been open to the public. As one of our significant PS pioneers, he built his home in 1929 shortly after the El Mirador Hotel opened. He and his wife Edith operated the Lykken Department Store where Palm Springs enjoyed its first telephone.
